How About We Go On A Picnic!

How About We Go On A Picnic!

Happy Tuesday, friends! As we head into the Summer months I hope that you have some great plans. How about we go on a picnic!

One of my most favorite things to do with the family are going on picnics.

If you have your backyard oasis Summer ready, it would be so easy to picnic right in your backyard. We have a few places to picnic here in Abilene. If you have kids, we have some wonderful mini water parks available near a picnic area.

I remember when my boys were younger and they loved to fish. We would plan a trip to the lake or the State Park and spend the day fishing. I always made a lunch for the boys.

I love being affiliated with a great brand not only for your real estate needs but also offers some really great items to purchase for inside and outside of your home. Better Homes and Gardens has you covered for your picnic outings.

Even backyard picnics are great!

Backyard picnics

Organize and prep ahead for your picnics by purchasing a Better Home & Gardens Resin Rattan All-in-One Serving Caddy. You can use this to insert your napkins, silverware, and plates which makes it easier to carry and keeps all of the must haves together.

If you are having a party, you can use this great Better Homes and Gardens Cake Carrier with Plastic Cover. You can fit your cake, cupcakes, and even some paper plates all in the carrier.

If you need a cute tablecloth, check out the selection of tablecloths at Walmart.

Make sure to plan ahead on your meals. If you are going for the salad picnics, you will need to keep everything as cold as possible. My boys always preferred peanut butter and jelly which are super easy to keep.

Go on a picnic…

Summer is not just for vacations, you can take a lot of mini vacations by simply planning a picnic at the park, lake, or in your very own backyard.

One Design Trend That Really Makes A Difference!

One Design Trend That Really Makes A Difference!

One design trend that really makes a difference is adding accent pillows. I enjoy changing pillows with the seasons or the holidays. There are many different designs that are affordable but they add so much to the overall look of a room.

One design trend that never goes out of style are handmade pillows. When you add a piece of your work to your home, it expresses your personality. I remember making pillows as a young girl. These are timeless pieces that are treasured for a life time.

Another trend is florals and bold colors which is another way to allow your personality to shine into a room. Plus there are so many fun prints in floral and bold colors that I am loving right now.

The great news, this design trend is so affordable. Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart is a great place to start with finding these one of a kind accent pieces. If you are staging your home, pillows would be an easy way to spruce up a room.

When it comes to your home, it is important to allow someone who cares about more than selling your home. It is a journey to finding something your love.

I would love to be that realtor that walks you through this process. You can contact me by email at kam@senterrealtors.com.

Three Ways To Embrace The New Decor Trends!

New Decor

Hello friends! One of the newest trends for 2022 is Art Deco design. If you love timeless, this decor trend is for you. The Art Deco style dates back to the 1920s. Today, I am sharing three ways to embrace the new decor trends.

First, Terrazo is making a big comeback. Many homeowners are using it on the bathroom floor because it is durable and feels great underfoot. Even more daring is a Terrazo sink in the bathroom. You can go as bright and bold as you like.

Second, reclaimed wood has become more and more popular. Utilizing salvaged wood in the kitchen makes for a timeless look. If you love the natural hardwoods, this styles is definitely for you.

Third, go for a bold look by adding wallpaper with a layered pattern along with a painted paneling in a powder bath. A bold color such as a pink or a green will make a great impact in that area of your home.

Embrace the new decor trends by adding Art Deco to your home will enhance the beauty,  and will keep you up to date with the new trends.

The best and latest trends and designs for creating a home office

Happy Monday! As I have discussed in my previous blogs, many people are working from home or they have a home business. Home offices are more than a corner in your home. Many homeowners are converting a bedroom into a cozy and relaxing home office. In my blog this week, I will discuss the best and latest trends and designs for creating a home office!

When it comes to your home office, there are some great trends that will help you use whatever space you have available in your home. Whether you like modern, stylish, or functional, I have some wonderful ideas to help get you started. Stay tuned for the best and latest trends and designs for creating a home office!

First, if you work from home it is necessary to have a designated office space. If you don’t have an extra room to convert to an office in your home, maybe you could use a portion of your dining room or even the main living room. I converted our extra bedroom into an office. Whatever space you use, make it your own.

One Latest Trend

One of the latest home office trends is to bring nature into your home office. The biophilic design is a concept that builder’s utilize to promote connectivity opportunity with nature.  This trend goes beyond a few house plants. The design weaves in natural decor, textures, patterns, lighting, and plants. A window allows for a more open space. If you like the modern look, this design is for you. Bright colors and rich dark furniture are a designer’s favorite look. Decorative items should be easily replaceable so you aren’t stuck with one style of decor.

Lastly, when it comes to an office desk, first think about your space. What would function best in your space? Also, will you be using a computer or a laptop? Do you need storage for office items or files? Do your research when it comes to purchasing a desk. Better Homes and Gardens has a great selection of functional and affordable desks for your office space.

How Do I Get My Home Ready To Sell?

How do I get my home ready to sell?

Hello friends and happy Tuesday! We are in a seller’s market and you may be thinking about putting your home on the market but you don’t know where to start! Let’s talk about how to get your home ready to sell? Today, I am sharing a a couple of tips to get you started with the process.

In my previous blog, Let’s Talk Curb Appeal, I discussed ways to help you spruce up the outside of your home to attract more buyers.

Tip #1: Declutter your home.

Less is always more. It is never easy to get rid of things. However, if you haven’t used it in 10 years, it is probably a safe bet you will never use it again.

Tip # 2: Organize

Utilize organization products to keep your rooms tidy and neutral. Designate one day to organize these areas in your home. In fact, Better Homes and Gardens at your local Walmart stores have some really great affordable options to help get your started.  Bathroom vanities are a great place to start. Store your bathroom items in a basket that can be easily tucked under the cabinet. Further, utilize drawer dividers to make your items more organized. One great option: Better Homes & Gardens Bamboo Adjustable Drawer Dividers.

Moreover, decluttering and organizing your home is a first step in getting your home ready to sell.

I would love to guide you in the selling process. As your realtor I will be with you for the entire process. Please contact me if you have any questions. You can email me at kam@senterrealtors.com or (325) 668-1639.

Get Summer Ready With Your Very Own Outdoor Sanctuary!

Get Summer Ready

Hello friends, whether you are buying or selling, the outdoor space has become more important. As we talked about last week, it is time to plant a garden or maybe some flowers. Whatever you decide, Better Homes and Gardens has a great selection of outdoor decor to choose from. Get Summer ready with your very own outdoor sanctuary!

To create your very own outdoor oasis, you will need the right amount of furniture, lights, and accents. Many people have parties on their patio. I remember having many parties at my mom and dad’s on their patio when my kids were younger. We loved to cook out.

So, how do you get Summer ready with your very own outdoor sanctuary!

To get started, what size is your patio? This is very important question as you think about the furniture and accent selection. Is your patio covered? You might want to invest in a nice patio cover.

The Better Homes and Gardens collection at Walmart is a great place to start when looking to purchase new outdoor furniture. If you have furniture, you can also choose from their great selection of outdoor pillows.

Next add some accents such as rugs, outdoor side table, and plants.

Lastly, add some strings of lights. These are super easy to hang and provide a nice amount of light.

If you enjoy cooking out and you have the room, add a grill to your patio.

I would love to talk with you about getting your house ready to sell. Now is the time to get your home on the market. It is a seller’s market. Let me know how I can help. You can email me at kam@senterrealtor.com.

3 Quick and Easy Ways to Start a Garden!

Happy Monday! There is never a better time to start a garden. According to some, it is better to wait until after Easter to plant because it is the frost-free growing season. Today, I am sharing 3 quick and easy ways to start a garden!

You may be a beginner gardener like me.  I haven’t had much luck with growing my own vegetables.

However, I do love the idea of growing my own vegetables. I love the farmer’s market and I can’t wait for the growing season.

So, this year, I made a decision to start a small garden.

3 quick and easy ways to start a garden!

First, I visited our local Lowe’s store and purchased a patio tomato plant, a strawberry plant, some herbs, a marigold, and a daisy.

Second, I purchased a few inexpensive pots and a water can.

Third,  I ordered a couple of solar powered butterflies and a frog to add to my flower beds.

My grandparents always had a garden. She canned and pickled vegetables every Summer. It was a lot of work but she loved doing it.

I would love to hear from you about your gardens. What do you plant in your garden? What is your favorite Summer vegetable?

Stay tuned this week for my pickled beet recipe. If you love beets, you will love this easy recipe.

Let’s Talk About Pet Friendly Homes!

Pet Friendly Homes

Happy Monday! Let’s face it, our pets are a part of our families. We want to make sure our furry friends are well taken care of and feel comfortable in our homes. According to the American Pet Products Association’s 2021-2022 National Pet Owners Survey, “total pet industry expenditures in the United States totaled $103 billion.” Let’s talk pet friendly homes!

There are so many great designs that you can create in your home that will ensure your pet is happy and healthy. Let’s talk about pet friendly homes.

First, think about flooring

Having a designated space for your pet ‘s bed, toys, food, and water will help them be more at ease. While carpet is nice and soft, it can be difficult to clean if your pet has an accident. Hard wood is easy to clean up but can show scratches from long nails especially from the big dogs. Ceramic tiles are probably the best when it comes to pets. It is easy to clean and does not show scratches.

Second, use existing indoor spaces

If you have an empty space under the stairs, create a room for your beloved pet. Try a DIY project and create something special for your best friend such as an adorable bed or hideaway, or even a catio space.

comfy bed

Third, add a comfy new bed

There are so many great pet beds available from an oversize pouf to an orthopedic memory foam bed for your dog. Or an anti-anxiety cat bed to a cat tunnel bed.

For more great information on designing a space for your furry friend, read Creating Indoor Spaces for Your Family Pets! You can find expert advice on many design topics from our very own Better Homes and Gardens pros.

Whether you are buying or selling your home, these great kitchen hardware tips are for you. Maybe you want to add a personal touch to your kitchen and don’t know where to start. Let’s talk kitchen cabinet hardware.

The first thing to think about when choosing new kitchen hardware is the finish. If you prefer things that match, choose the same finish as your kitchen faucet. Maybe you want a bolder look, then a mixed metals would be in order.

Metal choices include chrome, polished nickel, satin or brushed nickel, gold, oil rubbed bronze, and black. Each of these offer their own unique style. For example, black is a popular modern design. Gold has made a comeback in the last five years and is a very hot trend! Let’s talk more about kitchen cabinet hardware!

After you decide on the metal, think about whether you like knobs or pulls. You will want to mix up knobs and pulls for a more designer look.

You’re Going To Love This Recipe!

Cooking Blog

Do you love pulled pork sliders? Pulled pork has become more and more popular especially at barbecue restaurants and backyard barbecues. When you cook pulled pork, it is best to cook it for a long period of time. The more tender the pork is, the easier it is to shred. You’re going to love this recipe!

This recipe is so easy and you are going to love it!

Let’s talk bread!

You can serve the pulled pork on a regular bun or a slider. There are so many great tasting buns out there that add to the taste of the pulled pork. I prefer using rolls for our pulled pork sliders.

To cheese or not to cheese!

If you know me, you know that I love cheese. For my pulled pork sliders, I prefer Havarti cheese. It melts so easily and is a creamy cheese. You can use your favorite cheese or not use cheese at all.

Saucy!

I love barbecue sauce. There are so many great brands that are fantastic, so I don’t make my own. I prefer a sweet tasting barbecue sauce.

Now for the recipe. For this recipe you will need some seasonings and spices.
