The 70s and 80s Design Trends Are Back in 2023!

Hello Friends, and happy Tuesday! Design is fun. I love learning about new trends in home design. I grew up in the 70s and the 80s. There were so many design trends that I never thought would come back in style. However, I was wrong. The 70s and 80s design trends are back in 2023!

Midcentury modern from the 70s used colors such as mustard, sage, and terracotta are back. Furniture was made from teak, oak, and rosewood. The midcentury modern design is clean and functional.

The 1980s trends such as the the preppy styles of crisp white and blue palettes look great in a bedroom or living room. You can even get away with adding some neon colors. Add wallpaper or a colorful rug to living room.

You can shop at your favorite vintage store and pick up a few midcentury modern pieces to follow the trend. Many of these stores have great rugs as well.

Hello Friends, I hope that you are having a wonderful Summer and have spend time with your family and friends. I can’t believe that school will start soon. Many people are thinking about selling their home. Today, I am answering your questions about our pets. Dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, oh my!

One question that I get from friends, how can I sell my home and keep my pets safe? Also, how can I attract pet lovers to my house for sale?

When I was growing up, we had one family dog. My boys, on the other hand, had many pets. They had dogs, cats, turtles, chickens, a turkey, geckos, rabbits and ducks. When it came time to sell my home, it was rather worrisome and hectic.

How can I sell my home and keep my pets safe?

Pets are unpredictable. Here are a few helpful tips to get you started.

Take your dogs on a walk during showings
Ask your friends and family to take your pets during showings
Take them to work with you if that is an option

How can I attract pet lovers to my house that is for sale?

Fenced yard that is sturdy and safe
Eliminate pet odors
Luxury dog house

Tackle your Summer home maintenance with these three easy tips!

Summer is upon us and it has been so hot here in Texas. Summer is a great time to do a few maintenance things around your home. Tackle your Summer home maintenance with these three easy tips!

First, make a list of things around the house that needs to be repaired.

Second, prioritize the items on the list and tackle what you want to do first.

Third, get started and don’t put it off!

One of the first items on your list should include having your air conditioner checked and serviced. The air conditioner has to work really hard and this is so important especially in the Summer. Also, make sure to change out your air filters regularly. We recently had some issues with our air conditioner which is never fun.

How About We Go On A Picnic!

Happy Tuesday, friends! As we head into the Summer months I hope that you have some great plans. How about we go on a picnic!

One of my most favorite things to do with the family are going on picnics.

I remember when my boys were younger and they loved to fish. We would plan a trip to the lake or the State Park and spend the day fishing. I always made a lunch for the boys.

One Design Trend That Really Makes A Difference!

One design trend that really makes a difference is adding accent pillows. I enjoy changing pillows with the seasons or the holidays. There are many different designs that are affordable but they add so much to the overall look of a room.

One design trend that never goes out of style are handmade pillows. When you add a piece of your work to your home, it expresses your personality. I remember making pillows as a young girl. These are timeless pieces that are treasured for a life time.

Another trend is florals and bold colors which is another way to allow your personality to shine into a room. Plus there are so many fun prints in floral and bold colors that I am loving right now.

The great news, this design trend is so affordable. Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart is a great place to start with finding these one of a kind accent pieces. If you are staging your home, pillows would be an easy way to spruce up a room.

Three Ways To Embrace The New Decor Trends!

Hello friends! One of the newest trends for 2022 is Art Deco design. If you love timeless, this decor trend is for you. The Art Deco style dates back to the 1920s. Today, I am sharing three ways to embrace the new decor trends.

First, Terrazo is making a big comeback. Many homeowners are using it on the bathroom floor because it is durable and feels great underfoot. Even more daring is a Terrazo sink in the bathroom. You can go as bright and bold as you like.

Second, reclaimed wood has become more and more popular. Utilizing salvaged wood in the kitchen makes for a timeless look. If you love the natural hardwoods, this styles is definitely for you.

Third, go for a bold look by adding wallpaper with a layered pattern along with a painted paneling in a powder bath. A bold color such as a pink or a green will make a great impact in that area of your home.

Embrace the new decor trends by adding Art Deco to your home will enhance the beauty, and will keep you up to date with the new trends.

When it comes to your home office, there are some great trends that will help you use whatever space you have available in your home. First, if you work from home it is necessary to have a designated office space. If you don’t have an extra room to convert to an office in your home, maybe you could use a portion of your dining room or even the main living room. I converted our extra bedroom into an office. How Do I Get My Home Ready To Sell?

Hello friends and happy Tuesday! We are in a seller’s market and you may be thinking about putting your home on the market but you don’t know where to start! Let’s talk about how to get your home ready to sell? Today, I am sharing a a couple of tips to get you started with the process.

In my previous blog, Let’s Talk Curb Appeal, I discussed ways to help you spruce up the outside of your home to attract more buyers.

Tip #1: Declutter your home.

Less is always more. It is never easy to get rid of things. However, if you haven’t used it in 10 years, it is probably a safe bet you will never use it again.

Tip # 2: Organize

Utilize organization products to keep your rooms tidy and neutral. Designate one day to organize these areas in your home. In fact, Better Homes and Gardens at your local Walmart stores have some really great affordable options to help get your started. Bathroom vanities are a great place to start. Store your bathroom items in a basket that can be easily tucked under the cabinet. Further, utilize drawer dividers to make your items more organized. Hello friends, whether you are buying or selling, the outdoor space has become more important. As we talked about last week, it is time to plant a garden or maybe some flowers. 3 Quick and Easy Ways to Start a Garden!

Happy Monday! There is never a better time to start a garden. According to some, it is better to wait until after Easter to plant because it is the frost-free growing season. Today, I am sharing 3 quick and easy ways to start a garden!

You may be a beginner gardener like me. I haven’t had much luck with growing my own vegetables.

However, I do love the idea of growing my own vegetables. I love the farmer’s market and I can’t wait for the growing season.

So, this year, I made a decision to start a small garden.

3 quick and easy ways to start a garden!

First, I visited our local Lowe’s store and purchased a patio tomato plant, a strawberry plant, some herbs, a marigold, and a daisy.

Second, I purchased a few inexpensive pots and a water can.

Third, I ordered a couple of solar powered butterflies and a frog to add to my flower beds.

My grandparents always had a garden. She canned and pickled vegetables every Summer. It was a lot of work but she loved doing it.
