Let’s Talk Front Doors!

More than just a door! Whether you are buying or selling, the front door of your home is more than just a door. First impressions are key to catching the eye of a prospective buyer. It’s more than a just a color. The front door can add to the value of your home by enhancing curb appeal. Let’s talk front doors!

In this blog we will look at the door’s style, design, texture, and material.

There are more to deciding on the right front door for you home. Some questions that you might need to ask yourself:

  • Would I want a window in my door?
  • Do I want a paintable door or stained?
  • Do I want a double door or a single door?

Material matters

It is important to make a wise choice when selecting door material. There are selections such as wood, fiber glass, and steel. When you select the right material, it will mean less replacements and more energy efficient. Having an energy efficient door will help reduce your monthly electric bill. Let’s talk more about front doors!

Let’s Talk Design and Style

If you are looking for a more natural warmth in your entryway, a wood door will add that desired look. Maybe you prefer a modern or contemporary look, then you will want a fiberglass or steel door.

When it comes to style, every home is unique. You might want a more contemporary look that makes a bold statement. A modern door with glass can light up the inside of your home. Maybe you are thinking about adding a modern farmhouse door which brings that down home feel to your home. The farmhouse door offerings include rustic to classic. A craftsman front door incorporates that natural element of design.

No matter what front door you choose, make it one that you will love for many years.

Thus it will reflect your style and your home’s unique character.

The front door will also enhance your curb appeal.

I Hate To Cook, But I Love To Eat!

This Realtor Can Cook!

Hello Friends! Okay, I confess that I hate to cook, but I love to eat! I think the worst part of cooking is deciding on what to fix. I was a picky eater growing up. Over the years, I started trying new recipes and I acquired a taste for a lot of different foods. Some might call me a foodie.

What I do know is it wouldn’t be a home without a home cooked meal.

However, home cooked means different to all. When I married my husband, home cooked meant chicken nuggets and cheese dip or pre-made frozen lasagna.

I think my kids always thought that I loved to cook. What they didn’t realize, it was a struggle!

If you are like me and you hate to cook but you love to eat, I hope that you will continue to follow my blog on quick and easy homemade meals.

For starters, I am sharing a family favorite. If you like sloppy joes, you will love this recipe. It literally takes about 30 minutes to cook and you have a delicious meal.

The great news is you can heat up the left overs and serve on top of rice or even a baked potato. Sound good?

So, keep reading!

If you don’t like ground beef, you can substitute it for ground turkey or chicken. My personal favorite is the ground chicken.

Let’s Talk Luxury Bathrooms!

Let’s Talk Bathrooms

Are you looking to update your bathroom in your home? Whether you are buying or selling, an updated bathroom adds value. With the right updates, you can turn a bathroom in your home into your very on personal spa.Let’s talk luxury bathrooms.

As I have discussed in my previous blogs, start with a budget. Use a vision board. Save pictures on websites such as Pinterest.

Check around for the best prices. Sometimes you can find things you really love at Lowes or Home Depot. You might be able to find what you want at a local shop. Also, try vintage stores. You never know what treasures you might find.

Let’s Talk Luxury Bathrooms!

One of the hottest trends is a two-in-one shower and bath concept. Instead of the cramped bathtub and shower combo, this concept offers a more luxurious look with a beautiful bathroom enclosed in a glass shower.

Another trend is merging the outdoor look into the bathroom architecture such as using timber and bigger glass walls. Even wood look tiles have that wow factor.

Two of the hottest colors for bathrooms include blues and whites. Either color goes great with warm materials such as wood or bamboo.

Gold fixtures are the latest trend in luxury bathrooms. Or you can go bold by using black fixtures which is a great contrast to white.

If you are interested in buying your forever home, please give me a call. I would also love to sell your home. Wherever you are in your life, there is never a better time to update a space in your home.

Let’s Talk Kitchens!

Pictures of kitchens

More and more family and friends are spending more time cooking together at home. Whether you are buying or selling, the kitchen is a focal point in the home. When I walk into a house, I imagine myself and my family sitting at the table in the kitchen, laughing and enjoying a meal together. Let’s Talk Kitchens!

If you are thinking about selling your home, updating the kitchen adds value. A make over can be as simple as adding paint, a new backsplash, and hardware. If you want to add even more value, updating the appliances, new flooring, and new lighting might be in order.

Let’s Talk Kitchens!

Here are some simple steps to get you going in the right direction with your kitchen make over.

  • Budget: Do your research and set a budget for the project. Materials can be costly and you don’t want to over spend on expensive items that don’t necessarily add more value.
  • Materials: Spend more researching the cost of all of the items that you want to make over in the kitchen. Paint is probably the least expensive. The backsplash can be costly depending on the tile that you choose. Hardware can pretty expensive unless you find some on at an estate sale.
  • Labor costs: Unless you are wanting to do all of the work yourself, you will need to factor in a contractor to help with the painting, installing the backsplash, and the hardware. Ask your friends for references. Make several calls and compare prices.

So, next week we will discuss more about kitchens. I hope that you will continue to follow my blog for more great information on buying and selling your home. Give me a call if you are interested in finding your dream home or selling your existing home. I would love to help you! Please check out my blog every week at imkamyourrealtors.com.
